Huntapac, a family owned business based near Preston, grow and pack directly (from seed to shelf) a range of products from Root vegetables to Brassicas and Salads, and are major suppliers to a number of the leading national supermarkets.
The business is now a 24-hour, 364-day-a-year operation, and one of the largest and most successful root producers in the UK with over 300 staff. Huntapac also our have their own transport division, with a fleet of 50 wagons, 52 refrigerated trailers, 42 tippers, & 2 low loaders.
One of the major issues the business faced was the plethora of delivery paperwork (over 300 a week) that they had to deal with, which was required to be sorted, photocopied and then to be sent onwards to support invoices for goods / deliveries. John Bell, Huntapac’s Transport Manger contacted IPC in mid 2012 to look into the options for scanning the proof of delivery notes and automating its’ delivery to customers.
IPC came up with a solution based on its’ generic EDM solution – m.Store - that involved the supply of a dedicated Panasonic scanner and customised software to allow for the scanning and onwards automated emailing of the POD’s. This has led to a major reduction in the time taken to cater for this critical task. The system was supplied with a 4 concurrent licence, so that Accounts could also have fast access to the delivery paperwork.
Suzanne Harrison (Finance Director) commented
‘the system proposed and installed by IPC has had major benefits for our organisation. Not only has it speeded up the process in dealing with Delivery paperwork, but it has also provided a very welcome improvement in payment turnaround times. I am now talking to IPC about other projects that could provide similar tangible benefits’.
